Fortunately I was able to figure it out by comparing with my most recent Time Machine backup, but ended up wasting and hour and racking up my blood pressure many, many notches. Individual scattered folders were moved, not entire directory trees, which made it all the more confusing. In some cases the folders were also renamed. I inadvertently moved one folder into another due to a somewhat too sensitive trackpad, and all of a sudden I found that folders from completely different locations had also been moved to the same target folder. I made a few (apparently) wrong moves with my trackpad, and it started moving files around all over, from completely unintuitive and in some cases random locations (looks like a bug). WARNING: Be very careful when using this app.
