Though he had led the other pox victims for only a short time, he had earned their eternal respect. In a matter of weeks, the red pox consumed Garad. It would be the last time that Durotan would ever saw his father. Garad convinced Durotan to return home and look after their people for the time being. The young Frostwolf was the sole remaining heir to the clan. Durotan volunteered to stay behind with his father, but Garad gave him other orders. Garad remained in Nagrand, and he took charge over his fellow plague victims. The last thing the Frostwolf chieftain wished for was to spread the pox to his family and clan members. Though the thought of not returning home filled Garad with great sorrow, he saw the wisdom in Ner’zhul’s words. They would go on to construct a new village to house the affected and keep them away from greater orc society. Ner’zhul feared that these orcs would spread the pox to new victims so he urged Garad and the other plague bearers to remain in Nagrand. The afflicted included Chieftain Garad of the Frostwolf clan, Durotan’s father. As the kosh’ harg ended and the orcs began their journeys home, some displayed signs of the pox. Led by Chieftain Ner’zhul, the clans met there to discuss their current troubles. Many of the victims contracted the pox during one of the orc’s Kosh’harg festivals in Nagrand. Months passed and hunderds perished from the powerful plague. This outbreak was the worst in orcish history. The orc warlock used his magic to spread a disease known as the red pox amongst the clans.
